Weeks 12 - 18

Saturday 26 June

This week, we are continuing with our nature theme by taking our inspiration from flowers and trying to capture their essence through a simple drawing activity.

We have a worksheet that introduces you to the continuous line drawing method, with some examples of simple flower illustrations created in this way. You can download the worksheet here.

Saturday 19 June

This week, we’ll be taking inspiration from Andy Goldsworthy, a British artist known for creating land art from natural materials.

Our hand-drawn worksheet has suggestions for things you could ‘draw’ using objects found in nature, or why not use materials from around the house to create nature-inspired patterns and shapes? Whichever activity you choose - relax, enjoy and let your creativity flow. You can download the worksheet here.

Saturday 12 June

Spring is well and truly here so we want to encourage you to get outside and explore the nature around you!

Our activity this week is to create a piece of art from items found outdoors – our worksheet will guide you through this process and can be downloaded here.

Saturday 5 June

We have now come to the end of this month's Zentangle topic so you may want to take a little time to pause and reflect on all that you have achieved.

This week we have a simple free writing activity using nature as a starting point to help you relax and unwind. You can download the worksheet here.

Saturday 29 May

Welcome to the final week of our Zendoodle theme. It’s time to pull all of this month's pattern ideas together and create a decorative design. We have two worksheets with examples of compositions that could be used as a starting point for your drawing. You can download the worksheets here.

Saturday 22 May

This week we are going to explore freeform doodling, providing an opportunity to explore and experiment with patterns in a fun way, without having to work within a restricted area. There are no borders or outlines. Instead of planning your design before you start drawing, just let your doodle take over and follow it around the page, working in a free, instinctive way. It’s time to let your creative instincts take over! You can download the worksheet here.

Saturday 15 May

This week we are going to continue with our Zendoodling theme by exploring pattern and repeat. Our step-by-step worksheets will guide you through four easy to follow activities.

You'll be able to use these over the next few weeks when creating more detailed Zendoodle designs. Cutting out a few different sized square cardboard templates helps when drawing out your squares. You can download the worksheets here and here.

Saturday 8 May

Zendoodling is a drawing process that explores pattern and design through a combination of Zentangling and Doodling. Throughout the month of May we are going to explore this technique in stages, from simple patterns to beautiful decorative decorations. Focusing on creating repeating and meditative patterns can be very relaxing and calming, helping to increase your ability to focus and feel balanced.

Take a few minutes to complete this simple Zentangle exercise - all you need is a black pen/ pencil and some paper (a rubber, sharpener and coloured pens/ pencils might also be helpful). You can download the grid here and the worksheet here.
