smART Rugby

Over the Summer of 2022 Halifax Opportunities Trust, Halifax Panthers, artist Puy Soden and Everybody Arts have got together to enable young people to enjoy a really special and exciting art-making experience.

Puy's workshops always focus on the materials and the activity rather than the final product, so people of all ages can immerse themselves in a truly creative process. This fun and ambitious project with Halifax Panthers has combined painting with rugby, mixed art materials with sport-action, and connected experimental mark-making with whole-body movement.

We found that the children’s experiences of trusting the process, working together as an artistic team, and exploring materials, tools, and methods came together to create art that celebrated their engagement and development — resulting in some incredible and unusual paintings!
