Autumn course programme now live
We’re really excited to share our course programme for November – December.
We have some old favourites back by popular demand including morning, afternoon and evening Ceramics. We also have some exciting new courses for you to experience such as Creative Textiles where you will explore a wide variety of experimental and traditional textile techniques.
Also new this term is our six-week Painting Challenge. We’re absolutely thrilled to have Suman Kaur, winner of the BBC Big Painting Challenge, delivering this course. Have a go at creating your own masterpieces under her expert tutelage. The course is suitable for all abilities, from beginners who want to jump into learning new skills, to experienced painters who want to explore a range of themes and subject matters in a supportive encouraging environment.
Suman is also delivering a one-off Drapery Life Drawing workshop on 5 November. This session will focus on the drapery of clothing on the human figure, rather than the nude form and is available to book now.
For young people aged 12 – 16 our Youth Art classes return on a Wednesday evening. We’ve also added an additional course for children aged 7-11 where they can explore drawing, painting, illustration and more.
Take a look at the full list of courses below or view our FAQs for more information about what to expect from a session with us.

You will begin to develop your own creative pathway while still extending your fundamental painting skills and techniques.
Assignments in this course have five main aims that will introduce the way that artists fundamentally function using paint:
The eye – how artists perceive the world through observations and memory (eg Monet, Renoir).
The mind – a formal, analytical approach to painting that gives an impression of our thoughts and ideas (eg Cezanne, Seurat).
The heart – an emotive, intuitive and expressive approach to drawing and painting that allows artists to instinctively express feelings through observations and imagination (eg Van Gogh, Munch).
Techniques skills and theories – expanding on the traditional skills, techniques, theories and experimental approaches to painting and drawing using a variety of materials.
Context – placing all aspects of this programme into historical and contemporary art context.
At the end of the course you will have the ability to choose your own artistic direction, which can be further developed in the Artworks educational structure.

Life drawing is the artistic tradition of drawing the human body from a model and a great way to improve drawing technique and skill.
This term, our life drawing sessions are taking a more relaxed approach, as classes will be self directed giving individuals the time to develop their own practice.
All sessions will be facilitated by Sara who has lots of life drawing experience as an artist and as a model too. She will be on hand to give you creative hints and tips if you need a bit of guidance.
Students are welcome to work in any dry medium and there will be a selection of papers and materials available throughout each session. If you would rather bring your own resources you are more than welcome! As this takes place in our gallery space we can’t permit wet mediums like paint and inks.

Join us a for unique day course and explore the creative potential of life drawing with a seasonal theme. Explore new ways of drawing the figure within, alongside and as a part of nature, as we draw from ’From The Folde’ by artist Fiona Pickles. Produced especially for Everybody Arts by artist Jo Blaker in response to Fiona's exhibition, we hope this one off drawing opportunity is one you will not want to miss!
In this course we will explore the season, its cycles and phenomena influencing all the aspects of the life drawing experience. We will look at how we might express winter through our materials, viewpoints, mark making and the expressions or poses adopted by the model. Expect playful, exciting drawing challenges that take you out of your comfort zone pushing your work in unexpected directions. You will be guided through short, stimulating exercises leading to longer poses for more self-directed drawing.
The length of this session ensures time to share, discuss and into the experience. The focus of this session is upon stimulating our creativity & expression as artists. As such, each artist has freedom within our exercises to make them their own.
Who is the course for?
This course is for confident life drawers or those who feel that regular life drawing classes aren’t quite right for them.
Whilst your tutor can offer advice regards proportion, measuring etc this course is not focused on these formal elements of drawing the figure. The focus of this session is upon stimulating our creativity & expression as artists, responding to a range of stimuli alongside the body. If regular life drawing classes don’t feel right for you, you might enjoy the freedom to experiment that previous participants tell us they especially enjoy about these sessions.
