Rosie Moon teaching Sand casting to Lapage Primary School Students

Schools Programme

January was brilliant! Lapage Primary School joined us for two fun-filled workshops. Picture this: sandcasting magic inspired by "The Magic Paintbrush" and a wild exploration into the world of "George and the Dragon" where colors, collages, and a collaborative dragon-mice masterpiece came to life. A big shout out to the amazing artists, Rosie Moon and Alex Abel, for delivering sessions that left students and teachers buzzing with excitement!

Teach + Inspire CPD Course

We ushered in 2024 with the launch of our signature Teach + Inspire CPD Course. Led by the phenomenal artist, Sally Timmons, the session "Wax + Water" unleashed a flood of creativity with wax resist techniques. We're all about empowering teachers to fuel the creative fire in young minds. The Teach + Inspire course spans six months of monthly classes on Zoom, and guess what? You can jump in at any time! Yes, we're making creativity accessible anytime, anywhere. Join at any time and you will receive all previous recordings of the sessions!

Leeds Arts University

We had the pleasure of joining Leeds Arts University to deliver an Industry week to their second year fine art students last month. We were invited to share insight into Everybody Arts, and the diversity of our projects and programmes.

On Day 1 was 'Welcome to Everybody': Harriet introduced the students to Everybody Arts, what we're about and what we do, and Andy Abbott explored socially engaged art practice, with examples from his own career and other artists, encouraging students to use 'Arte Util' as a starting point for ideas generation.

Day 2 was 'Making it Happen' led by Sammi and Harriet, focusing on how to make projects happen and giving 1:1 support to students to answer their questions.

Day 3 was all about 'Reaching Everybody', with Janine Radcliffe sharing her insights into branding and marketing and Mishka Lesayova discussing accessible and inclusive provision, both for audiences and for ourselves as artists.

At the end of the week we asked students what had been their key takeaway from the week:

"Remembering my needs are just as important as others"

"It's encouraged me to take advantage of a lot more opportunities"

Thanks for having us!

Winter Warmth Programme

Our winter warmth programme has now been running since the start of November, with our weekly Wednesday afternoon peer group, Creative warm space each Friday 12-3pm, Wellbeing at the Weekend workshops and monthly Family workshops. Thanks to everyone that's joined us so far, we've had 65 people join in, many on multiple occasions, with activities and insights shared by 10 different artists and learning support assistants.

Here’s what a few of them had to say:

"A lovely family event, to chat to other parents and do crafts and share ideas was lovely"

"The artists were extremely welcoming and the activities were well organised, all capturing my children's interest straight away. They made badges and cards and had a go at printing too! My daughter absolutely loved the badge making and my son loved printing! A lovely space for children to get creative. Thank you!"

Why not join us in February and March for:

Friday Warm Space (this Friday is a half term special with family friendly activities inspired by nature, led by Sarah O'Boyle)

Family Winter Warmth, led by Adele Asante, Saturday 9th March

Wellbeing at the Weekend 17th and 24th February, 9th March

The Everybody Gallery

In January, we had the In Conversation event, a lovely chat between gallery curator Sammi and artist Fiona Pickles about her work, practice and the unfolding From the Folde: Botanical exhibition. If you would like to see the conversation, you can do so HERE.

The final event to celebrate Fiona’s time with us is the Closing Party on Saturday 24th February from 12.00 - 3.00pm. Free and open to all, this is a chance to see the final version of the exhibition and the artwork that Fiona has been creating and adding to the show each week.

Join us for some hot drinks and nibbles and a cosy afternoon of taking notice of the beauty of winter forms and botanics - while also bidding this long winter goodbye and looking forward to spring!
