Introducing Everybody Arts!

More from our information event on 29 November

A big thank you to everyone that attended our information event on 29 November 2023.

If you weren’t able to join us, read on for a quick summary of what was shared and to access the slides and photos from the event.

What was the event about?

The event was an opportunity to share some of the exciting changes we are making to the way we look and operate as an organisation with members of our community.

Attendees heard from Directors, Lauren Iredale, Harriet Fletcher and Peter Stanyer (Stan), about what’s coming up, including:

  • A new name - we’re changing our name from Artworks to Everybody Arts. Our gallery will become the Everybody Gallery and our art school will be called the Everybody School of Art

  • A new look and feel - we have a new logo - and colourful brand to go with it!

  • Becoming a charity - we’re changing from a community interest company (CIC) to a charity

  • A new Board - we’ve recruited a fantastic Board of Trustees who will steer, guide and oversee our work

What do the changes mean for our community?

The event was also a chance to reassure our community that we will still be the same organisation - we’ll just have different packaging that better represents who we are and what

we do. Practically, there will be a couple of changes that it is worth being aware of.

These include:

  • Paperwork - our name has officially changed at Companies House, so you’ll start to see it on legal documentation

  • Staff changes – our current Directors are moving into slightly different roles in the organisation:

    • John - Trustee

    • Lauren – Co-Creative Director

    • Harriet – Co-Creative Director

    • Stan – Senior Artist Educator

  • Website/ email - info@everybodyarts.org.uk and www.everybodyarts.org.uk will start to appear in places. Old domains and email addresses will still work for now

  • Timescales – other changes will be made gradually. We hope to have most of the changes in place by April 2024

What else happened at the event?

We were really excited to have several of our Trustees join us for the event. They were able to introduce themselves to our community and share a little more about why they wanted to be part of Everybody Arts. Our Board bring with them a wealth of experience in arts and culture, finance, health and wellbeing and more. They are passionate people who believe in the power of art to change lives just as much as we do. We’re very grateful to have their support as we begin our journey as a charity.

Next up, Ceramics Tutor, Matt Cameron, and Office Assistant, Esther Tait, led a couple of exercises to gather your ideas on how we could ‘formally’ launch Everybody Arts. Attendees

were asked for their thoughts on a launch party, community showcase, fundraising and more.

A key takeaway that came from the discussions was that our organisation has achieved so much over the 15 years since it’s inception. As we move forward as Everybody Arts, we need to do

more to tell the stories of the people we’ve supported (and will continue to support) through our work.

A huge thank you to everyone that shared their thoughts and added a sprinkle of magic to this ideas session. Your support and creativity is absolutely invaluable.

What’s next?

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be going through all your ideas and coming up with a plan for how we make them a reality. There were so many great ideas it might not be possible to take

them all forward - but we’ll be working closely with our Board of Trustees to map out what’s possible. Rest assured though – a celebration is definitely on the cards, and we will keep you up to date with all our plans.

If you are able to offer any support as we move forward with these ideas, we’d love to hear from you. There’s a sign-up form below where you can express an interest in getting involved.

As our new name suggest – everybody is welcome.

Cheers to the next chapter!

Thanks to Matt Radcliffe for the short film and photographs that capturing the session so well.
