Festive fun at home
If you can’t make it to our festive workshops, or you prefer to learn at your own pace, we’ve got a little something for you.
There’s just something about this time of year that makes us want to get creative. For some people, closing the curtains and settling down to a creative activity can feel like a real treat. For others, it’s a necessarily wellbeing activity to keep us in balance during the darker months. And for many, it’s the pull of making a special gift for a loved one that prompts us to get out the art supplies.
Whatever your reason for being drawn to the creative, we’ve got a range of free activities that can be done at home, at your own pace, this festive season.
Creative Christmas
If you’d like to make your own Christmas decorations, our festive art activities are just the thing for you.

Boxes of wellbeing
Our boxes of wellbeing have been designed to inspire creativity, reduce stress, and improve overall mental health. They are perfect for moments of solitude, self-care, or personal growth making them a great choice for those expecting a quiet Christmas or people that find this time of year particularly difficult.
What is it?
Together with artists and communities, we’ve created eight boxes, full of creative wellbeing activities that can be loaned and exchanged between people and community groups in Calderdale.
Funded by Calderdale Cares Partnership, each box is designed to support wellbeing through art and enrich everyday life.
Who is it for?
Everybody! You don’t need any prior experience in art as there are clear instruction cards and booklets within each of the boxes for you to work through.
We have an individual and a group box for four different age ranges:
Starting Well - aimed at children aged 0-5 years and the grow ups that care for them
Developing Well - for secondary age children (11-16) to develop practical skills, confidence and wellbeing
Living and Working Well - for working age people to learn new skills and develop ideas
Aging Well - for people over 75 to support renewed purpose and life-long learning
How does it work?
1. Use our online booking form to book a box for two weeks
2. Once the booking has been made you will receive a booking confirmation with pick up and drop off details
3. Each box contains everything you need to get started including step-by-step instructions, sustainable materials and specialist equipment
4. Create, experiment and enjoy – just don’t forget to treat the box and its contents with care and respect while it’s with you
5. Return the box by the agreed-upon date to ensure availability for others
