'Healing' Exhibition Celebration

It was wonderful to welcome everyone to a celebration event for our ‘Healing’ exhibition as part of Refugee week 2022.

What a joy to see so many people back in the gallery space again on such a beautiful day, in support of an incredibly important campaign.

As part of the celebration event, we got to hear some reflective and thought provoking live performances of poetry, reading and creative writing from our exhibitors and service users from St Augustines Centre, Halifax.

Exhibiting the work of over fifty individuals, created an amazing display, which we so enjoyed bringing together in the gallery. The bright, colourful and varied work brought life back to these walls.

We wanted to bring special attention to one exhibitor, Julio, an Artist from El Salvador, who has been with us since October making work as part of our ‘Studio of Sanctuary’ programme. He has braved the cold Yorkshire weather and the old mill here at Artworks, each day to make wonderful drawings and paintings - We can’t wait to see where his work will go next!

You will soon be able to read and see more about the exhibition and exhibitors here.
